Well, it's nearly ready ... the all new bargaweather.com live weather data station is up and running in Barga Vecchia. It has now been crunching numbers for the past two weeks and is just about ready to go live with the only free public access live 24 hours a day weather station located here in MediaValle and Garfagnana, Tuscany, Italy.
Up until now all weather data has been coming from stations dotted around the valley ...on the coast at Massa, up on the mountains towards Modena and right down the valley at Lucca. This has meant that up to date live weather data has been very difficult for the general public to get their hands on.
There is a weather station run for the Civil Protection, a government run agency, but the data has not been available to the public only to those members of the Civil Protection ... that has now changed. www.bargaweather.com is running a Davis Vantage Pro2 station mounted in Barga Vecchia, Barga (LU) which gives in real time --- wind direction, wind speed, outside temperature, barometer readings, daily rain, monthly rain and yearly rain.
Simone Castelli from the Geology Dept of Pisa University will be joining bargaweather.com later on this month to give us daily weather forecasts for Barga, Media Valle and Garfagnana.
